CALLD Initiative
What is the CALLD Initiative?
The Collective for Adaptive Leadership and Liminal Discipleship (CALLD) convenes and develops institutional leaders who are attentive to what God is doing in this season of transition and committed to embodying faithful and generative ways forward. Cohorts bring theological reflection into conversation with institutional design and real-world experimentation. The initiative is a collaborative endeavor supported by Novare Center, ATS, In Trust Center, ABHE, and CCCU.
In this season of opportunity and transition, the deepest impact will come through cultivating new ways of being rather than simply repackaging the past through programmatic innovation. As we discern and join with the work Spirit, we may find that we need to examine inherited assumptions, explore adaptive leadership, and consider how mission, formation, structure, and purpose take shape in the institutions we serve. CALLD is an opportunity to engage in that work as a community. It asks where institutional faithfulness is directed and how commitments can be realigned toward deeper participation in the work of God.
How Does CALLD Work?
- Cohort-based inquiry into adaptive leadership and institutional life.
- Theological reflection alongside the design and implementation of experiments in participants’ own contexts.
- Sustained collaboration to generate, test, and refine approaches to leadership, learning, and organizational life.
Who is CALLD for?
For those who seek faithful renewal in the institutions they serve.
- Presidents
- Administrators
- Faculty
- Board Members
The Desired Outcome
Fresh expressions of theologically informed education marked by vitality, faithful presence, and enduring witness. Participants examine familiar measures of success and explore practices more closely aligned with Christian mission and faithfulness.
